Sacramento Baroque Soloists
Robin Houston, oboe

Robin Houston studies baroque oboe with Washington McClain and attends early music workshops internationally. A clarinetist by training, he performs regularly with the Auburn, Camellia and Folsom symphonies, primarily on bass clarinet. Robin's interest in historical woodwinds led him to study period instruments such as baroque oboe and bassoon, recorders, dulcian, shawms, and most recently, chalumeaux (early relatives of the clarinet). Robin performs on an Eichentopf copy oboe made 10 years ago by Sand Dalton in Washington, U.S.A. Robin is also a clinical parasitologist and teacher at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.
