This is truly a unique presentation with fourteen lush costumes, beautiful traditional music and original compositions enhanced by drama and synthesized music.  Music Journey does not begin and end at the doors of the assembly room.  Sacramento Baroque Soloists has developed a performance-related music unit learning packet with a pre and post student evaluation and four half-hour lesson activities.  Before the performance, the teacher may administer the pre-performance student evaluation with discussion.  As a follow-up to the performance the four learning activities may be used as given and/or enhanced with suggestions for curriculum-related open-ended activities.  These activities are interdisciplinary with art, history, writing, drama, social studies and music.
The genesis for Music Journey came from the Michael and Lisa Lawson's deep commitment to music in education and a desire to share their knowledge of music history and musical styles, past and present.  The goal of Music Journey is to show the distinct changes in musical style through history that have lead to the music of today and to help provide an understanding that music and the arts are critical parts of learning that nurture everyday life.
